Saturday, February 11th, 2012

It’s ACTA day. ACTA protests are happening across the country. Just yesterday it was announced that European superpower, Germany, would not be signing ACTA following widespread protests across Europe.

Bull :: Death of ACTA

I would tell you that you could download the video “here” but the link Dan has on his Youtube page is to Megaupload. As I don’t want to give you a broken link to a rude page, here is a link the internet found. :P

Now go kill ACTA!

Matchstalk cats and dogs…

Growing up in Glossop, with weird, folk-loving parents, I never had much contact with popular music. So when, one day, my dad once took me upstairs to the stereo there and introduced me to this song via a old scratchy record, it left quite a lasting impression on me.

This is of course Brian and Michael’s number one hit, Matchstalk Men and Matchstalk Cats and Dogs.

And parts of Ancoats where I used to play

Now I live in one of the famous cotton mills in Ancoats that Lowry must have walked past and which probably influenced his paintings, I can’t help but be inspired by the “simple man” who once said:

“I am not an artist. I am a man who paints.”

When I went to the Isle of Skye, Marek sent me this:

Speed, torrent stream, like your link is GigE,

Sweden! the pirates cry;

Carry the call with low latency

Over IP to Skype.

I smiled.

We Will Change Everything – TEDxYouthDay Song

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

You may know of the great TED conferences… but did you know about TEDxYouth – a series of volunteer events around the world designed to empower and inspire young people. Have a look at their Youtube channel for some of their wonderful talks.

This song, made for TEDxYouthDay 2010 never fails to make my spine tingle.
