A few weeks ago, I headed to a little visited area with Judith, Jasmin and Ashleigh a few days ago to take in the mysteries of this wonder, hidden in plain sight.
The free climb/solo was terrifying as usual. I don’t know any outdoor climb I’d be happy to bridge and traverse like that on without protection, and I wasn’t happy on this one. But I did it, and as a result everyone else could discover how awkward SRT is if you’re pressed against a wall.
Once we were up, we headed up the organ pipe rift SRT pitch to the base of the bungee cord pitch.
Probably one of the most hated “SRT” pitches in the world, if not the universe, the bungee cord pitch is actually really fun and easy, and everyone got to the top and remarked how much they’d enjoyed that bit.
The location was magnificent, with its white carrots, unusual protrusions and plenty of knobs. Ashleigh even got herself her own hole to explore.
Afterwards it was time to return, learning new techniques for the blue pitch and remembering regular ones for the following two.
Eventually we reached the bottom with the same number of people, all with the same number of limbs, and headed out. A pleasant trip!
Well done everyone!
