Long Churn and Great Douk caves

Long Churn and Great Douk are two classic trips that are used to introduce people to caving in Yorkshire.

I’d done Long Churn once before but never tried Great Douk. It was exactly as promised – never challenging, always pretty, pleasantly easy – though perhaps not as varied as it could have been.

Long Churn had more variation – and whilst the surveys didn’t make sense, the 6th sense navigation worked fine and it was an entertaining trip with a few entertaining obstacles.

One thing that I don’t imagine every Great Douk trip doing is the through trip – but the top entrance does make a pleasant and shorter exit for those inclined to push on, up and find it.

Great to explore these and add them to my repertoire on the last Caving Crew Camping weekend to Yorkshire.

Who’s coming on the next one?
