Alum Pot is one of the most magical places of the underground.
A huge open air shaft, filled with greenery and waterfalls with a ledge halfway down.
The shaft letting sunlight filter down and flicker across the mist of rising warm air.
The easy route involves a 20m abseil to the balcony to watch the space, the harder route is a 80m abseil. Each route requiring at least the same amount of ascent to return.
My group went to the window, enjoyed the view and return through long churn. Other caving crew groups went to the sump, and some ascended the 80m abseil!
