Samantha (@bellas_world_domination ) was eager for an introduction to SRT and a suitable bridge presented itself.
In Caving, often ropes becomes roads to travel up or down to allow us to explore areas we couldn’t otherwise reach.
The skills are fairly different from sports like climbing which use the rope as a safety device to protect the rock, and take a bit of practice to get used to.
It’s all easy enough once you get used to it and opens many exciting options to explore.
Using rigged-for-rescue SRT-ground-anchor-setup Sam experienced going up and negotiating an awkward ledge – frustratingly common in caves!
After some practice, we experienced wind and rain – not common in caves – so retreated to get food.
Possibly the most picturesque SRT pitches I’ve ever gone up or down!
