When the big sky god decided to intervene

When the big boy sky god decided to turn on the leaky tap a few weeks ago, I thought the Climbing Clan Thursday evening was lost.

But with some quick thinking and Kirsty and Paul’s fantastic efforts, the Wilton groups ran some impromptu trad skills training on the ground.

Often there are skills you want to learn for climbing outside, but it’s hard to persuade people to teach you them because people want to just climb… And you do too.

But these skills can make your climbing experiences more enjoyable:
‘ž¡being shown how to get gear out,
‘ž¡being shown how to speed up the time between climbs by sorting out the rope,
‘ž¡being shown how to lead belay

But also there’s the skills that help you develop your horizons:
‘ž¡ Gear placement
‘ž¡ Anchor building
‘ž¡ Abseiling with a prusik

Big thanks to Kirsty and Paul for turning up with enthusiasm, fighting the cold and passing skills onto the clan. ™
