I was chatting with a friendly new dad and he mentioned to me that his dad and his step dad were basically “how not to examples” of male role models for him. In his words, “very clearly the opposite of role models” and certainly not people he wanted in his child’s life.
I really felt for him, and I’d like to point out that often men can have a positive impact on children who are not their own’s lives. You don’t have to have children. If you can be a supportive person to that young person who needs it – you can make a real difference.
