The weather was atrocious outside.
As we left the hut for Barmouth Slabs, liquid doom splattered from the sky, pouring pessimism down the back of our necks.
Surely there was no way there could be climbing today, could there?
We arrived at the coastal crag with views across the estuary and eyed the rock and sky suspiciously. Was this sunny dry stone simply a sick trick?
Rapidly we shot up the routes, eager to climb before the rain. Running down the slopes and popping up top ropes. Steady Jake Honnold running out his headgame to new levels of focus.
Newly leading Alex putting up ‘new’ routes on the upper crag and encouraging Albina to give them her first leads.
Leona #fakeleading a couple of trad routes, mum seconding an E1 and me leading a couple of juicy Diffs.
And the rain never came, so the Camembert Climbing Clan came out on top.
Highlights: Josephine finding Ryan’s most entertaining piece of gear to date: a random tent peg loosely latched onto some turf at the top of the route.
