Jon and me took Helen Amanda and friends

Last year Jon and me took Helen, Amanda, Martin and Chloe to Bagshawe Cavern.

This was Amanda’s second time caving with us, Helen’s first time caving with us, Martin’s first time in a year and Chloe’s second trip since Covid.

Helen tried everything we threw at her, taking on everything her first caving trip offered here.

Amanda was extremely nervous before her first trip to Bagshawe, but on her second one she was such at ease, she not only did the Glory Hole climbs, she did the Agony Crawl Squeeze of Doom.

Apparently telling people it’s “uninspiring” isn’t enough to put people off, and apparently Amanda can do squeezy!

Martin pushed himself up the ladder climb vice with incredible fortitude and self belief whilst doing a good job of making sure people in front of him didn’t slide down anything they weren’t supposed to.

Chloe flew the cave comparing it favourably to Carlswark, instantly spotting the helictites and exploring every side tunnel.

Jonathan lead his way through the Agony Crawl with happy smiles and happily skipped through the squeeze whilst offering to lead a trip to Slaley Sough for anyone who got on his nerves.

Interestingly, the Glory Hole duck was looking a lot like the Ink Sump duck, and based on that – we turned round rather that commit further than we’d planned to for a fun, jolly giggletrip.

Route: Entrance -> Calypso’s Cave -> Blackpool sands -> Cave of Worms -> Hippodrome -> Streamway -> Hippodrome -> Glory Hole Hippodrome -> Snakes Pyjamas -> Agony Crawl -> Exit
