Throwback to a summer trip with The Caving Crew to a historic former Matlock showcave.
My highlights:

Sending Monika, Jon and Jasmin off on climbing crawly explorey adventures

Hearing Monika happily returned from Samantha’s favourite passage

Watching Jon lie in the water when we finally got to it in, apparent, bliss

Seeing Polly find graffiti, apparently of her own name

Listening to Judith try to persuade Jon and Jasmin that if they couldn’t get their shoulders through, it probably wasn’t possible
‘
Watching Jasmin lead Polly through a section of cave whilst I waited for the others.
As Jon said afterwards: “I really enjoyed going up the stairs towards the end and finding the three dead end tunnels by myself. Its a completely different experience being on your own, your own torch the sole source of light amidst the blackness.
Even when at the back of the group, turning my torch off to see the mine and cave light up in different ways as the group moved forward, revealing hidden sections. It gives a nice perspective watching the group move forward from a distance 🙂 “
