The rough truths of parenting and child-free time

One of the rough truths of parenting is that child-free time is probably very precious, and child-ful time is probably very plentiful.

This affects what you can do and what you prioritise dramatically.

Pre-baby for example, evenings are very empty (or full of exciting things).
Post-baby, evenings are full of meals and bedtime, with a collective sigh and fingers-crossing when he goes to sleep.

Trying to fit a baby into a plan that is not really designed around a baby is tricky, ambitious and potentially dangerous (to the amount of sleep you’re getting).

When you find things that *do* work, where you can take the baby along with you and also enjoy yourself – then you take them and run!
