Everywhere was a bad idea. The weather was damp, the clouds were low, there was wet snow high up and I was not psyched.
Occasionally people confuse me with someone who has a never-ending desire to get outdoors, but it’s not true. On Climbing Clan Weekend trips, my favourite places are in the hut and in bed (in that order). However, we’d come all this way. We needed to do something.
The plan was to hike up Blencathra to Sharp Edge. Decide it was a nope nope nope, and return to base for tea and naps without getting too soggy.
Sharp Edge (which responds badly to a small bit of rain) responded badly to wet melty snow. We turned round and returned the way we’d come.
Happy that we’d done something and yet glad we were going back to napland.
